Perth East to welcome Olympic Torch Relay in Shakespeare on December 27th

With the help of the Perth East Olympic Torch Relay Party Committee and the Perth County Visitors’ Association, the Township of Perth East is thrilled to be hosting a fun-filled, family-oriented celebration to welcome the Olympic Torch Relay into downtown Shakespeare. The party will take place on Sunday, December 27^th from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be festivities for the whole family to enjoy, and free public skating on a synthetic ice surface throughout the entire event, so bring your skates!

Shakespeare, Ontario December 8, 2009 – Don’t let the fun end when Christmas is over, bring the whole family out to downtown Shakespeare on December 27^th between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. and help show the Olympic Torch Relay how much spirit Perth County has!

The Township of Perth East, with the assistance of the Perth East Olympic Torch Relay Party Committee, the Perth County Visitors’ Association and other community-minded organizations, will be hosting a variety of family-oriented festivities to usher the Olympic Torch into our community. There will be something for every member of your family to enjoy. Events include: free public skating on a synthetic ice surface, children’s crafts supplied by Perth Middlesex Early Years Centre, the Shakespeare Fire Fighters’ food booth, music, entertainment and more!

For those of you who like to compete, gather 4 friends and/or family members together and sign up to participate in the 4-Person Relay Race. This fun athletic competition will have you simulating some of the 2010 Winter Olympic events as you go for the gold.

If athletics aren’t your thing, but you still would like to get involved, there will also be a home/business decorating competition. Show us how much spirit you have!
